About Photographer Tom
Meet Tom
Passion
Photography has been a lifelong passion for me. I spent many years taking pictures and developing my own film. This hobby taught me the fundamentals of photography, including light, exposure, composition, and history. Photography was my passion, not just a hobby. It was my voice, my lens on the world, my way of storytelling, and my gift to others. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have learned about photography in my teens, a time of creativity and experimentation that sparked my lifelong love for the art.
History
My passion for photography began as a teenager, inspired by my father’s darkroom in our basement. Mesmerized by the process of developing film and printing photos, I spent countless hours there, eager to learn all I could. One day, my dad let me borrow his old Konica SLR camera. I was thrilled! I couldn’t wait to start taking my own pictures. I spent the next few weeks snapping away at everything in sight: my friends, my family, my neighborhood, and even my cat. Developing my first roll of film was a revelation. The clarity and detail of the images were breathtaking. I couldn’t believe I had taken them myself. I was instantly hooked. One day, inspired by my dad, I decided to develop my own film. I meticulously followed his instructions, and soon, I held my first developed film in my hands, filled with pride. When I showed it to my dad, he was thoroughly impressed, telling me that I had a natural aptitude for photography.
